Preventive Health Screening in Canada: we can and must do better

Unfortunately, a significant proportion of Canadians are still not being screened — resulting in preventable diseases, avoidable deaths, and growing costs for an already overburdened healthcare system.

Canadians most often cited the following reasons for not participating:

• ⏳ lack of time
• ℹ️ lack of information
• ❌ perception that screening isn’t necessary

This situation is especially concerning for the 6.5 million Canadians without a family doctor, and for communities facing systemic inequities in access to care.

It’s time for a new, patient-centred preventive health model — one that empowers Canadians through a single, comprehensive access addressing all applicable screening needs, including:

• 🩺 colorectal, cervical, breast, and lung cancers
• 💉 diabetes, cholesterol, hypertension, etc
